Synopsis

Two years ago, Caroline Carrington had made the biggest mistake of her life; she had rejected the man she loved.
Now, she was back in London and ready to find a husband.
But first, before proper Caroline did exactly what was expected of her, she wanted a little scandal, something to remember during her life as a perfect society wife. Not enough to ruin her, but enough to make her feel alive.

Who then is better placed to help her with her quest than Tom Crawdon, the man whose mere presence still had the power to weaken her knees, and her heart?

Tom had promised himself that he would never allow another woman to get under his skin the way Caroline Carrington had. He had returned to London intent on forgetting her and moving on with his life.

Forgetting her however, would have been a lot easier had she not arrived in London at the same time as he had.
What was worse, she seemed to be on a mission to shake off her good girl reputation. And who better to help her than a notorious rake like him?

But could he help her while still protecting her unblemished reputation? And what happened if she snuck her way right back into his heart?

Excerpt 1

Especially someone he l- cared for.
A sound drew his attention and he turned to see Caroline trying to get herself back onto Fortuna.
No doubt she was trying to storm away. But since Fortuna was far too large for Caroline to be able to reach the stirrups alone, all she had managed to achieve was to be halfway up the horse, with one foot in the stirrup and the other dangling uselessly as her arms clearly did not have the strength to continue pulling.
“Er – what exactly are you doing?” he asked politely.
“Minding my own business,” she snapped back, “you should try it.”
Ah, she was still upset.
He didn’t think he’d ever seen her in a rage before. It was most amusing.
“Let me help you”, he tried again.
With a huff, she gave up on the frankly impossible task of mounting her horse alone.
She whipped round to face him, her face red from the exertion of scaling a horse, her eyes flashing fire.
“Oh, now you want to help?” she drawled sarcastically. “Well, no thank you. You have made your feelings on helping me perfectly clear.”
Tom felt his temper rise to match her own.
“I cannot believe that you are angry with me for trying to preserve your reputation.”
“Hang my reputation”, she shouted now.
“Hang it, indeed. You forget I know you Caroline and I know that you may speak as if you do not care but I was there the night you decided that your reputation was more important to you than anything else in the world, remember?”
His outburst brought an abrupt stop to her ranting and there was a deadly silence between them both.
He had thought that his words had taken the sting out of her mood? That she would apologise and say that he was right?
He watched as she bowed her golden head and waited for her to lift it again, to see her eyes filled with contrition.
Lift her head she did, but her eyes were glinting with determination now. Not contrition.
He was immediately suspicious.
“I have told you before, I am well aware of what I did two years ago. And what it cost me”.
His heart slammed at her words. Was she saying that she regretted it? That she felt she had lost him?
When all it would take was a word from her?
Before he could speak, however, she continued.
“I am prepared to live with the choices I have made. And live with them I will. I will become everything I thought I wanted to be and I will do so with good grace, as all ladies do.”
She sounded now much more like the Caroline of old and he felt a certain relief at it. This new Caroline kept him constantly wrong-footed and it wasn’t a feeling he liked.
“However”, she continued, a hard edge to her voice now, “I am still absolutely determined to enjoy a little scandal before that happens. And if you won’t help me I will find someone who will.”
A rage such as Tom had rarely felt burst through him at her words. The thoughts of her kissing another man as she had been kissing him just moments before were enough to make him want to hit something.
“Like hell you will”, he growled.
She raised a disdainful brow.
“And who will stop me?”
She was goading him. He knew it. He knew that he should not rise to it. Knew that she was probably calling his bluff.
And yet…
What if she were true to her word? What if she meant to give another man her smiles, her laughs, her kisses?
He’d be damned to hell before he allowed that to happen.
Looking her dead in the eye, he reached out and grabbed her to him.
Her eyes widened but rather than fear, they held unbridled passion and excitement. And it was his undoing.
“Me”, he finally answered before once again crushing her lips beneath his own.

Excerpt 2

Caroline was bored, and decided to take yet another walk in the gardens.
Her stroll took her around to the front of the house and she was surprised to see the arrival of a lone rider to the front of the house.
Her brow creased in confusion. As far as she knew, Tom wasn’t expecting his guests for another day or two.
Her attention was caught by the arrival of another two riders coming up the long driveway. She dearly hoped it was Tom to greet his guest.
Unsure as to whether she should greet the stranger or disappear until someone else arrived, she watched as he dismounted and made his way to the front door.
His gait was very familiar. So too was his dark hair.
Caroline stepped closer and then gasped in surprise.
It was Charles!
“Charles”, she called and ran toward him.
Her brother turned at her shout, and he grinned as Caroline ran up the steps.
“Hello, Caro” he said in his deep voice before he pulled her into a hug that pulled her from her feet.
Charles had always towered over her and he made Rebecca look positively tiny.
“What are you doing here?” she asked now, completely forgetting about the imminent arrival of the other riders in her excitement.
“I came to Town and was told by Edward’s servants that you were all here. I was sure his cousin would not mind if I paid a visit, since I came to see my family and my entire family are here.”
Caroline smiled widely.
“No I am sure he would not mind, he is a very generous man.”
Charles eyes, identical to Caroline’s icy blue, narrowed slightly at her warm praise but he did not comment, instead pulling her toward him in another hug.
“You look very well, Caro. It seems England is agreeing with you.”
Caroline made to answer but did not get the chance as she was suddenly pulled roughly from Charles’ grip.
She looked up in confusion and was surprised and horrified to see Tom, looking murderous, push her gently away from Charles before throwing his fist and landing a fierce blow right onto Charles’ cheek.
“Tom” she screamed now, “what are you doing?”
“Getting this lecherous brute’s paws off you”, he snarled and made to move forward again.
“Stop it”, she screamed again, pulling out of his arm with all her mite. “He’s my brother”.
Tom stopped mid-step and turned to look at her.
“Your brother?” he asked slowly, his breathing harsh.
“Yes, my brother” she shouted back, furious with him.
“Ah, so it is. Hello Charles, nice to see you again.”
Caroline’s jaw dropped at Edward’s nonchalance.
Charles grinned at Edward, seemingly as unfazed as the other man.
“Edward, nice to see you too”, he said as the two men shook hands.
Caroline felt as though she had slipped into a surreal dream, or nightmare rather.
Charles turned back to face Tom and eyed him closely.
“You must be Tom Crawdon. Sorry to drop in unexpected, though it would appear I’ve had my comeuppance” he grinned ruefully, rubbing his cheek and extending his other hand.
“My apologies”, said Tom now grasping Charles’ offered hand, “I thought –“
“You thought some stranger was manhandling my sister. Believe me, I am well pleased to have someone take such good care of her. You must really care about your guests.”
The two gentlemen shared a look that Caroline, still in a state of shock, did not even try to decipher.
Tom broke the brief silence.
“Please, come into the house and we will have someone look at your cheek.”
“It’s nothing that a glass of brandy won’t fix”, Charles said jovially.
The door had opened as this bizarre little exchange was going on and Edward stepped through, handing his hat to a waiting footman.
Both Tom and Charles turned back holding a hand out to Caroline then glancing at each other; Charles’ face once again shrewd and questioning, Tom’s trying and failing to look innocent.
Caroline stared at them both, completely overset by what had just occurred then shook her head and stomped into the house without either of their assistance.
She wished Rebecca and the dowager were here. She’d even take Mrs. Colson at this point.
In the space of a few moments, she’d seen Charles, watched as he was almost knocked clear out by Tom and then listened to them bonding and talking about brandy of all things.
Her head began to ache. And in the midst of it all was the horrible realisation that now whatever chance she and Tom had of being together had been completely obliterated by the arrival of her older and overprotective big brother.

Review

Review by Jennifer Juers
What an awesome first book for this upcoming author! Feels like she's been writing for years and that is a blessing.

I LOVE the characters! Love how she writes and you feel like you're in the book with them and going through their trials and tribulations. You experience the loss, the love, and the heartbreak. Can they survive and be together after all?

There were quite a few plot twists that keep you reading until the last page. Some caught me completely off guard and they will do that to you as well.

She has another book coming out this summer ~ "The Right Kind of Love"

Excerpt
I stepped into the shower and he followed behind me. The water felt fantastic on my skin, I let it run over my head and cascade down my back. Moving aside, I let Brecken get under the water. He had to bend his head down to get it wet. I watched the water as it made tiny rivulets down his perfect pecs to his six-pack.
He reached for the shampoo, squirted some into his hand, placed it back on the shelf and starting rubbing it into my hair while giving me a scalp massage. It felt amazing. “I love having my head massaged, Brecken.” I leaned over and gave him a peck on his chest. I rinsed my hair and then he grabbed my strawberry shower gel, rubbed it into his hands and starting slathering my body with it. He worked it into my shoulders and then cupped both of my breasts in his hands and began kneading them while tweaking my nipples. I gasped and I felt myself getting wetter than I already was. He bent down to his knees and continued the cycle by running soap up and down my legs and into my inner thighs.
“Are you saving the best part for last?”
“Damn straight.” He kissed my inner thigh.
He started playing with my sex, rubbing it with soap and lathering my silky folds while paying special attention to my clit. He then ran one hand to my entrance, inserted two fingers and began pumping them up and down while stimulating my clit with his other hand. I panted and was so wet for him as his fingers slid in and out of my wetness. He increased his pace, and I felt myself tighten around his fingers. My orgasm plowed through my body. “Oh God, Brecken, that feels amazing.”
“That’s it, baby, ride my fingers, take it all.”
My body was shaking, and I felt shaky on my unsteady legs. I leaned up against him to keep my balance and slung my arms around his waist. I looked up at him as I tried to catch my breath and smiled.
I felt steadier and grabbed the body wash so I could wash him with my hands. “My turn, handsome, but you’re going to have to do your own hair—I can’t reach it.”
I loaded my hands with shower gel and started rubbing them over his pecs and down his delicious V. I then attacked his arms, sliding my hands up, down, and all around as I would his shaft. I knelt down before him and rubbed soap onto each of his legs, taking my time as I rubbed them with finesse. I spread his legs a little, placed tender kisses on his thighs, and then kissed the head of his cock. I placed my hand around his girth and rubbed up, down and around, playing with the slit in the tip of his penis. He was gasping for breath as I worked him over. I slid my other hand down and lathered his balls while I rolled them around in my hand, squeezing them. He took my hands and stopped me.
“I have to have you now.” He lifted me up against the shower wall, and I wrapped my legs around him while he thrust into my core. My breathing became labored as he pounded into me. This wasn’t making love or having sex—this was fucking… wild animal fucking. He gasped, and I knew he was close to his release. I felt my body quicken, and then I fell over the edge. “Oh, God!”
“I know, baby, that was perfection.” I felt his cum slide down my leg. He settled me down on my unsteady feet, and then we just held one another while the water washed away the soap from our bodies.

About the Author
I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO where I grew up with four older brothers. I now reside in Overland Park, Kansas. I'd always loved to write as a child. My teachers would call home not because I was in trouble but because I had a creative imagination and they wanted my parents to know about the crazy stories I was writing. I've always been a hard worker. I started working with my family's company when I was 15 and still haven't stopped. I am a wife, mother of two, hold down a full time job and am now trying to be a indie author. I have a passion for reading and before I started writing I could be found with a Kindle in my hand morning, noon and night. I'm a picky reader so it's hard to please me but I feel like I have a keen eye for a good book.

I hope you all will join me on my new journey as I release my first book Fearless Love. It can be very scary but with my passion for the written word I hope it will be well worth it.

My Review
The book gets more serious with more mysteries and secrets which is kind of shocking because I thought we know about everything from the past 9 books but no. Chloe manages to excite us more and create more compelling plot. I don't ever want this series to get over because I think Ethan and Merit are the characters which you can't ever forget about.

Why I gave this book four stars because the starting was slow and kind of boring in between getting interesting due to Merit. After 60% the book took a turn and was like a boom yay...It got interesting with a lady in past and we get to know Ethan's past a little. Now I think it will be interesting know more bout him in next books. I also had wanted there should have a little more romance between Ethan and Merit which was kinda missing till first 60%. A like a little conflict it keeps it interesting!!

Excerpt #1 (Sweet)
With a quick pace, I give Mrs. Robinson my test and race out of the class only to crash into Duke.
“Whoa!! Slow down!” He steadies me with his arms.
I chuckle, “Sorry, I’m just happy to get away from Jose. I’m happy this is the last class with him.”
“Me, too. He’s gotten in the way of a lot of things and I can’t fucking stand him. It’ll be alright, Raya. He won’t bother you anymore.” He caresses my arm for a few seconds and then pulls away, clearing his throat. “So, uhh, what did Taylor want?”
I glance away to avoid his eyes, “He asked me out on a date.”
“He finally did it, huh? Took him forever.”
My head snaps to look at him, “Wait. What do you mean?”
He laughs and shakes his head, “After the Halloween party, he asked me if he should ask you out and I told him to go for it. Honestly, I thought he would have asked you out weeks ago. I don’t know what took him so long.”
My heart drops and an unbearable sadness falls over me. “Oh, is that right?”
“You know he’s crazy about you. You should give him a chance. He’s a really good guy.”
I close my eyes and try to force back the tears that are threatening to escape. My heart aches at the loss of Duke’s affection. All I want is him and I know I won’t ever get it. “I’m not so sure. I like him, but not as much as he likes me. I don’t want to rush anything. Besides, I told him that I can’t make any promises. I’ll be very busy with work during the break and won’t have much free time.”
“Ehh, he’ll wait. He doesn’t have a lot going on anyway.” He glances at his phone and responds to a text message. “Okay, well I’m going to catch Melanie before she heads off to her next class. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”
“Okay. Tell her I’ll see her in English.”
“I will.” He waves at me as he heads off to go get his girlfriend. At that moment, I realize that my feelings for Duke are purely one-sided and I need to get a grip on them. A single tear escapes and I quickly wipe it away. I promised myself that I wouldn’t stand in the way of Duke and Melanie. I’m not like that and I refuse to be the reason for a breakup. Their friendship means so much to me and I won’t ruin it.
Maybe I should go out with Taylor, but how can I with Craig being home? Hopefully, he has a conference coming up soon and will have to go out of town. I’m going to have to find a way to explain this to Taylor. I hope he’ll understand. I grab my cell phone and send a quick text to him.
Me: Meet me at work tomorrow.
I head down the hallway, making my way to endure the next final in line. A few minutes later, I hear my phone beep with an incoming text notification. I grab my cell to read the message sent from Taylor.
Taylor: So, is that a yes?
I laugh to myself. He always gets a head of himself.
Me: It’s a maybe. I’d like to take things slow so if you want come visit me at work.
Taylor: Of course! What time is your shift?
Me: From 11-7
Taylor: Okay, I’ll see you there. Maybe we can do lunch?
Me: Yeah, that sounds good. See ya tomorrow.
Taylor: See ya then sweetie ;)
I smile at his text and think about seeing him tomorrow. He really is a nice guy and maybe I should listen to Duke and give him a chance. My hopes and wishes are slowly diminishing and I can use any bit of happiness I can get right now. Maybe Taylor is just what I need.

Excerpt #2 (Dark)
A few minutes later, the doorbell rings again. With my muffled cries and my heavy breathing, the silent moments feel as though more time is elapsing than what truly is. I can sense Craig’s impatience and his temper rising. His hold on me grows stronger and stronger, making it difficult to breathe.

All of sudden, there is banging on the door and Duke screams my name. My instincts tell me to do everything I can to go to him, so I take my elbow and slam it into Craig’s stomach, causing him to heave over and gasp for air and lose his grip. I escape his arms and race for the door. Just as I’m about to get to it, Craig pulls on my dress, causing me to hit the floor, face-down.

He pulls me off the floor, “Come here, you little bitch.”

I screech and cry for help as my body thrashes about. Craig hauls me back into the kitchen, opens the door to the basement, and throws me down the stairs. I cry out as my body tumbles down the steps and my head slams into the cold basement floor. Feeling disoriented, I struggle to open my eyes and feel blood run down my face. Craig walks down the creaky wooden stairs and I quickly stagger away as fast as I can. My body screams in pain and I can’t move my arm. Shit, I think it’s broken.

I survey my surroundings to find a weapon, anything that I can use to fend him off. It’s completely dark except the dim light from the natural moonlight. Craig’s malicious laughs echo throughout the basement as he picks me up off the floor and slams me into the wall. I spit in his face and he immediately wipes it clean.
His furious eyes burn into mine as he takes his hand and slams my head into the wall behind me. His right fist hooks across my face and hits my bottom lip, causing me to almost hit the ground, but he holds me up.
At this moment, I taste blood on my lips and fear the worst.
I’m going to die tonight.

Excerpt #3 (Missing)
Craig’s villainous eyes bore into mine, “You’ve lost, kid. It’s been three years. You’ll never find her because she doesn’t want to be found. You’re in over your head. You might as well give up.”
“I will never stop trying.”
His wicked voice cracks, “Have you thought that maybe she’s dead? Perhaps she’s in a cold ditch somewhere and nobody notices that she’s missing. Or perhaps she’s on a bathroom floor completely fucked up and drugged out. Or maybe…she’s fucking someone right now.”
I suck in a breath as he says those words and he notices my unease and turmoil.
“Yeah, that’s right. She’s probably fucking some guy’s brains out and screaming his name as he pounds inside of her, thrust after thrust. Do you think she’s completely soaked for him? Perhaps she’s sucking him off instead? Do you think she begs for more? More lust, more craving, as she yearns for his dick to dive inside of her.”
My body begins to rage into a heated anger and my legs shake profusely. Melanie reaches over to stroke my arm to calm me down, but it’s no use. I feel sweat beads drip down my face as Craig continues to describe Raya being intimate with someone else. That’s it, I’ve had enough of this shit!
I jump out of my seat, grab hold of Craig’s jumpsuit, and hold my fist in the ready position. The guard jumps in and yanks Craig out of my grasp. Another guard grabs me and holds my arms behind my back, prepared to cuff them.
Craig’s loathsome laughs echo throughout the hall as the guards take him back to the holding cell.
“You will never find her!”
The guard pulls me out of the visitation hall and toward the exit. I glance back at Melanie who’s following close behind us. We arrive at the exit and the guard lets go of my arms.
“Next time, you’ll be detained. I would recommend that you do not return.”
I walk back to the Mustang and unlock the doors, helping Melanie into her seat before I walk around to the driver side and climb in. We sit in silence for a few seconds until I can no longer control my anger. I begin to punch the steering wheel and yell out in anger and disgust. The hatred I have for that man has completely doubled and all I see is Raya sleeping with another man.
I continue to punch the wheel, “Fuck…fuck..fuck! I hate that fucking asshole!”
Melanie reaches over to steady my arms and hushes me to relax.
“Duke, calm down. All you’re doing is letting him win. Can’t you see that?”
I stop punching the steering wheel and close my eyes, allowing myself to slowly concentrate on calming down. Melanie wraps her arm around my head and pulls it to rest on her shoulder.
She slowly soothes away my pain and anger as I breathe in and out. I don’t know what to do now. Perhaps visiting Craig was the wrong idea. What if he’s right? What if she moved on and met someone else? What if she completely forgot about me?
As I think about Raya forgetting about me, a stream of tears spills down my face and onto Melanie’s shoulder. I begin to sob quietly as my mixed and buried emotions crash to the surface. As I cry, she rubs the top of my head and consoles me with a nurturing tenderness.
We sit in the car for about ten minutes as I let everything out. Melanie doesn’t complain and takes it all in. She continues to nurse my inner wounds as my tears spill out until I have no more to shed. I lift my head off her shoulder which is now soaked with my tears.
She cups my cheek, “Are you okay?”
I let out a deep breath, “No, I won’t be okay until I find her.”
